When the Friendship Journey Takes an Unexpected Turn (Page 33-47)

In our third reading we are introduced to the story of Peter and how his limitation of imprisonment played a part in his life. We learn from him that God works in our personal prisons and uses the thing that holds us down to build us into the people he intended for us to be. There are three particular limitations we can learn about. They are limitations that you can't control, limitations that result from your own actions or decisions, and limitations that result from life's happenings. The reading ends with trusting God through all of these limitations. How has your trust in your prison times been affected and what are some ways we can develop our trust during limitations?

My trust in my prison times have been affected in different ways: sometimes I wonder if God knows where I am? If God understands? If He does understand, why is He not doing anything about the situation? There is a thin line between trusting God and losing faith in Him if you allow it to happen.

However, some of the ways in which you can conquer this thin line and develop trust during limitations is by looking at the past and holding on to the fact that if God saw you through then, God will see you through again. Also, standing on the Word of God regardless of the circumstances also enables one to build their trust in God because God will ultimately watch over His Word to perform it. He does not lie. Last but not least is developing the key ingredient, which is friendship with God. I believe when we understand the heart of God towards us, it will be easier to face and go through any limitation.

My trust in my prison times have been affected because of Living @ the Next Level by broadening understanding of God’s sovereignty over my life. I now understand that regardless of why I find myself in a prison, I still need to remember that I am God’s friend. And, because I am God’s friend, I can trust Him to free me from my limitations. I guess now will not worry so much worry about the storm I am going through, rather my focus will now be directed at what God is trying to develop in me through my limitations.
